1. Welcome and Purpose 

Welcome to the Institute for Equity in International Education (EquityEd). 

EquityEd is a charitable social enterprise dedicated to expanding access to education, vocational skills, entrepreneurship, and economic empowerment opportunities for people who face financial, geographic, social, or other barriers to learning. 

Our courses are designed to develop practical skills, build confidence, support employment and enterprise opportunities, and create positive social impact. 

By enrolling in an EquityEd course, program, workshop, mentoring activity, webinar, or learning event, you agree to the terms of this Course Participant Agreement. 

 

2. Our Social Enterprise Commitment 

EquityEd is different from many education providers. 

As a social enterprise, EquityEd reinvests revenue generated from fee-paying programs to support educational access for disadvantaged and under-served individuals and communities around the world. 

By participating in an EquityEd course, you acknowledge that your enrolment may contribute to: 

  • Scholarships and subsidised learning opportunities. 

  • Educational programs for disadvantaged learners. 

  • Skills development initiatives for women and girls facing barriers to education. 

  • Community-based education projects. 

  • The development of innovative, accessible, mobile-first learning solutions. 

  • Programs that advance educational equity, economic empowerment, and sustainable development. 

Your participation helps create opportunities for others to learn, grow, and improve their future prospects. 

 

3. Participant Responsibilities 

As a participant, I agree to: 

  • Engage respectfully with facilitators, staff, volunteers, guest speakers, and fellow participants. 

  • Contribute positively to the learning environment. 

  • Participate honestly and ethically in all learning activities. 

  • Respect diverse cultures, beliefs, experiences, and perspectives. 

  • Follow course instructions and participation requirements. 

  • Support a safe, inclusive, and welcoming learning environment. 

 

4. Respect, Inclusion and Professional Conduct 

EquityEd is committed to maintaining a supportive educational environment where all participants are treated with dignity and respect. 

Participants must not engage in: 

  • Harassment or bullying. 

  • Discrimination. 

  • Threatening or abusive behaviour. 

  • Hate speech. 

  • Sexual harassment. 

  • Intimidation of other participants. 

  • Deliberate disruption of learning activities. 

  • Unlawful conduct. 

EquityEd reserves the right to suspend or remove participants whose conduct adversely affects the safety, wellbeing, or learning experience of others. 

 

5. Academic Integrity 

Participants are expected to complete their learning activities honestly and ethically. 

Participants agree to: 

  • Submit their own work unless collaboration is specifically permitted. 

  • Acknowledge the work and ideas of others where appropriate. 

  • Avoid plagiarism or academic misconduct. 

  • Avoid falsifying information or assessment evidence. 

  • Use Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools responsibly and in accordance with course instructions. 

Failure to meet academic integrity requirements may result in: 

  • Requests for resubmission. 

  • Removal from assessment activities. 

  • Withdrawal of certificates or awards. 

  • Suspension or removal from a course. 

 

6. Participation and Engagement 

Participants are responsible for: 

  • Accessing course materials. 

  • Monitoring course communications. 

  • Attending scheduled sessions where applicable. 

  • Completing learning activities within recommended timeframes. 

  • Advising facilitators when circumstances significantly affect participation. 

EquityEd will make reasonable efforts to support participant success; however, successful completion remains the responsibility of the participant. 

 

7. Technology Requirements 

Participants are responsible for maintaining: 

  • Access to a suitable computer, tablet, or smartphone. 

  • Internet connectivity sufficient for course participation. 

  • Required software or applications. 

  • Secure management of passwords and login information. 

EquityEd is not responsible for personal technology failures, internet outages, or data costs incurred by participants. 

 

8. Privacy and Confidentiality 

Participants agree to: 

  • Respect the privacy of fellow participants. 

  • Maintain confidentiality regarding personal information shared within learning activities. 

  • Refrain from sharing recordings, screenshots, participant contact details, or private discussions without permission. 

EquityEd will take reasonable steps to protect participant information and manage personal data responsibly. 

 

9. Intellectual Property 

Unless otherwise stated, all course materials remain the intellectual property of EquityEd or their original owners. 

This includes: 

  • Learning resources. 

  • Presentations. 

  • Videos. 

  • Templates. 

  • Assessment materials. 

  • Recorded sessions. 

  • Guides and workbooks. 

Participants may use resources for their own educational purposes but may not: 

  • Sell course materials. 

  • Reproduce materials for commercial purposes. 

  • Publish materials publicly. 

  • Distribute materials without written permission. 

 

10. Session Recordings and Media 

EquityEd may record online classes, webinars, workshops, and presentations for purposes including: 

  • Participant review. 

  • Accessibility support. 

  • Quality assurance. 

  • Educational enhancement. 

  • Promotion of future programs. 

Participants will be informed when sessions are being recorded. 

Where reasonably practicable, participants may request not to appear in publicly shared materials. 

 

11. Fees, Scholarships and Refunds 

Where fees apply: 

  • Payment is required before course access is granted unless alternative arrangements have been approved. 

  • Scholarships, sponsored places, and fee waivers may be subject to additional conditions. 

  • Refund requests will be considered in accordance with EquityEd policies. 

  • EquityEd reserves the right to amend, reschedule, postpone, or cancel courses where necessary. 

 

12. Certificates and Recognition 

EquityEd may issue: 

  • Certificates of Participation. 

  • Certificates of Completion. 

  • Digital Badges. 

  • Statements of Achievement. 

Participants acknowledge that these recognitions reflect achievements within the course and do not automatically confer formal qualifications, professional registration, accreditation, licensing, or employment outcomes unless specifically stated. 

 

13. Withdrawal and Termination 

Participants may withdraw from a course at any time by notifying EquityEd. 

EquityEd may suspend or terminate participation where a participant: 

  • Breaches this Agreement. 

  • Engages in serious misconduct. 

  • Misuses course materials or technology. 

  • Creates significant safety, legal, ethical, or reputational risks. 

Where appropriate, EquityEd may seek to resolve issues informally before taking further action. 

 

14. Limitation of Liability 

To the extent permitted by law, EquityEd is not liable for: 

  • Technology failures. 

  • Internet interruptions. 

  • Loss of data. 

  • Loss of income. 

  • Business losses. 

  • Indirect or consequential losses arising from participation in a course. 

Participants remain responsible for how they apply information and skills gained through learning activities. 

 

15. Participant Declaration 

By enrolling in an EquityEd course, I acknowledge that: 

  • I have read and understood this Course Participant Agreement. 

  • I agree to comply with the expectations and requirements outlined in this document. 

  • I understand that EquityEd operates as a charitable social enterprise and that my participation may contribute to educational opportunities for disadvantaged communities. 

  • I will uphold the values of respect, integrity, inclusion, and lifelong learning. 

  • I understand that failure to comply with this Agreement may result in suspension or removal from the course.
